“bGame: Innovative Strategic Management Games as a teching methodology for entrepreneurship and business education” is an European initiative funded by the European Commission (Erasmus+) that aims at creating a strategic management virtual game for SMEs to further improve the strategic management skills of SME employees and managers and extend the learning opportunities of individual adult learners in entrepreneurial contexts.
This Virtual Game will give the player the possibility to choose between 8 different company scenarios (e.g. canned soup factory or clothes producing company) and open new offices in other locations (can be national – different cities – or international). Of course the final objective of the game is to increase profits or to have the biggest market share, depending on the type of company, but ultimately the goal is to be the best!
This Virtual Game, or bGame as we call it, will be completed with a set of learning resources that will provide further information to the player on the topics that are approached in the game. For the game to run, players have to make decisions on a wide variety of topics, such as foreign market selection, marketing and advertisement, human resources management, finances, etc, and these learning resources will focus exactly on these topics. This way, the player is learning within the game environment.
Why?
“We need to bring learning to people instead of people to learning.” – Elliot Masie
Virtual games or business simulation games are designed to improve knowledge about business and to improve specific related-skills, which in turn leads to more efficient and effective organizations. For any employee to be (more) effective they need to understand how the business works, what it takes for the company to be successful and, more importantly, what contribution they need to make to ensure it is operating effectively and efficiently. A virtual game or simulation (based on company-scenarios), such as bGame, is one of the most effective learning processes there is. The experience develops participants’ business intelligence, helping them to understand and actually perceive the extent of their (day-to-day) contribution and the importance of their decisions and their attitudes. Through these games, players learn to make better decisions for the organization and form better relationships – allowing the company to have a more effective, motivated and knowledgeable workforce.
How to?
bGame presents eight different business scenarios, all operating in the production/industrial sector, from which players can choose from. These scenarios are built based on real companies and the challenges they present are real challenges. bGame offers players a safe environment in which players can make decisions, experiencing challenges that need to be overcome in order to bring the company back on track. At this stage bGame partners are finalizing the beta version of the game, soon to be launched. We will then invite you and all SME managers, business representatives, business coaches and trainers and entrepreneurs, to start testing bGame and give us feedback for further improvements. Remember, bGame is part of a European initiative and is free of charge. We look forward to receiving your contact!
